Coaches

The WLYSA Spring Season is entirely run by volunteer coaches and assistant coaches. 2021 was a challenging year for us to find the number of volunteers needed to match the number of registrations we received. Thank you to everyone who stepped in and stepped up to make last year the season it was!

All coaches will be responsible for the following:

  • completing a free Criminal Record Check
  • contacting their team during the season with changes in scheduling due to coach availability or weather (via email or texting) - or working with a team phone parent to notify team members of changes in the schedule
  • looking after their team's ball bag and cones for the season

*NEW to 2022 Spring Season* Coaches that complete the following will receive a 30% credit toward future registrations at the end of the season for one of their player's Spring Season registration fees. For greater clarity, this rebate is only applicable to the registration of a Player who is the coach's child or a member of their immediate family.

  • completing the online and field portions of the BC Soccer coaching courses appropriate to the age level they are coaching (Paid for by WLYSA)
  • completing the Respect in Sport for Leaders online course (Paid for by WLYSA or proof of completion can be transferred from another organization)
  • complete the 8 week season with your team

Coaches have the option to use the WLYSA weekly coaching plans or provide their own drills for practice. We welcome all levels of experience to volunteer for our association!

If you are interested in coaching, please indicate on your player's registration and WLYSA will contact you with all the coaching information. Thank you!!
