The Directors of the Williams Lake Youth Soccer Association met via Zoom on May 14th, 2020 to determine the course of action for the 2020 Spring Outdoor Season.
The Board reviewed information from the Provincial Health Authority, BC Soccer and ViaSport with respect to a possible return to play in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The safety of our players and their families is the key consideration, and ultimately the Board made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Spring Outdoor Season.
We are still hoping there will be an opportunity to resume programs at some point this summer or in the fall. We would have to have sufficient confidence that we can do this safely, and that measures are in place to mitigate any risks that might arise from a return to play. We will keep everyone updated through our website and social media with our plans to resume programming.
In the meantime, we would like to thank our members for their commitment to WLYSA programs and their patience throughout this time. For those parents and guardians who have paid registration fees and have not yet obtained a refund, you have three options:
We ask that you either email the WLYSA Administrator at admin@wlysa.com or call (250) 392-1103 to leave a message at our office to advise as to which of the three options you would like to select with respect to your Spring 2020 registration fees. Please provide your child’s full name when confirming the option you selected for each registration.
For registrations paid through Jumpstart or KidSport Williams Lake, WLYSA will be in contact with the organizations to process refunds for each player.
We would also like to recognize and thank our 2020 Spring Outdoor Season sponsors for their support of youth soccer in our community. The following is the list of sponsors that were confirmed prior to the suspension of soccer activity in BC:
