Fair Play Code for Athletes

1. I will participate because I want to, not just because my parents or coaches want me to.
2. I will play by the rules, and in the spirit of the game.

3. I will control my temper – fighting and "mouthing off" can spoil the activity for everybody.

4. I will respect my opponents.

5. I will do my best to try to be a true team player.

6. I will remember that winning isn’t everything - that having fun, improving my skills, making friends and doing my best are also important.

7. I will acknowledge all good plays/performances – those of my team and of my opponents.

8. I will remember that coaches and officials are there to help me. I will accept their decisions and show them respect.

Advice to Players
  • Having fun, making friends, and doing your best are the most important parts of the game.
  • Play for your own enjoyment, not just to please coaches and parents.
  • Work equally hard for yourself and your team.  Your team's performance will benefit, and so will your own.
  • Cooperate with your teammates and opponents, for without them you do not have a game.
  • Play by the rules.
  • Control your emotions.  Over-aggressive play and "mouthing off" are not acceptable.
  • Remember that the coaches and referees are there to help you.  Cooperate with them.
  • Be on time for practices and games, and notify your coach if you are unable to attend.
  • Shin guards and soccer shoes (cleats) are mandatory.
  • Keep your socks pulled up, have your shoe laces double-knotted, and keep your jersey tucked in.  Do not wear jewelry or barrettes.  If you have earrings that cannot be removed, they must be covered with tape.
  • Bring a water bottle to all games and practices.
  • Have Fun!
